Local Business Helping a Community in Need
During times of trials, there are always those that stand out and step up to meet needs as they arise. Wichita Falls is blessed to have many community leaders and business owners that have done just that!
In early March, Axis Construction owners, Jeremy Steinruck and Jeff Miller, received a frantic text from a client, who is a friend and local surgeon. “He was looking for N-95 masks and came to us because he thought we might have some,” says Jeremy, “Coronavirus was scary and unknowable at the time. We had no idea what our PPE [personal protective equipment] needs would be or when they would become critical.” They took him the masks and cartridges they had at the time and then went on to purchase ALL of the remaining available masks at hardware and paint stores. They spent about $900.00, collecting eleven respirators with cartridges and took them to his home.
The next need became plexiglass boxes to aid in protection of medical professionals in the United Regional HCS during the intubation process. Axis Construction purchased $850.00 worth of plexiglass sheets and, with help from two other generous gentlemen, built 8 boxes to help our local medical professionals be prepared if this need arose.
As local infection numbers now decrease, it is encouraging to focus on the generosity of our community’s time and talents. Even in these uncharted times, there is always good we can choose to focus on.
