Keeping It Local in the Falls

I don't know about you, but with all that is going on in the world today, I find it overwhelming. I just want to get away and escape this everyday chaos. Although it is not possible to travel across the globe to escape, it is possible to travel local ... yes, you heard me let's travel right here in our own hometown. Wichita Falls has so much to offer, there are all kinds of hidden gems to explore.

Don't know where to start? Check out the Wichita Falls CVB

There are so many great ideas, sites and events to explore right here. I have listed a couple of upcoming events that may interest you.

JUNE 13th

The Arts Council, Wichita Falls Area, Inc. is proud to announce the opening reception for the Kemp’s 16th Annual Sculpture Garden exhibit. The reception will include light hors d’oeuvres, music and provide an opportunity to meet the exhibiting artists.

The Sculpture Garden contains eight permanent pieces of art and an additional 10 pieces of sculpture that participate in our annual rotating exhibit. The exhibition displays the outdoor-scale pieces for a full 12 months each year.

The exhibit is juried, with competing artwork from sculptors around the world. In addition to acceptance in the exhibition, artists are also awarded cash prizes.

This year the juror for 2020-2021 is sculptor Susan Budge from Houston, TX. Susan Budge has been making ceramic sculpture for over thirty years. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Texas Tech University in 1983, a Master of Arts degree from the University of Houston in 1987, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1999. Budge’s work has been included in hundreds of exhibitions throughout the United States and is included in private collections in Saudi Arabia, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Greece.

Returning as installer and curator is Throckmorton artist Joe Barrington of Red Star Studio.
