Cut down on screentime
You know your weakspot. Is it social media? Maybe you have binge-watched more shows than you can count. Put down the phone, turn off the tv and be present in your day. Set up some boundaries and stick to them. No tv until 8PM, no phone scrolling during mealtime, read one chapter in your new book you started from your "read more books" resolution above before picking up your phone...
Be more active
I know this one sounds so cliche for a New Year's resolution. Make it practical by taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking farther away at the store to get in a few extra steps, walk down every aisle at target. That last one is a sacrifice I am willing to make...for the good of my health!
Drink more water
There are so many health issues that can be alleviated just by drinking more water! Joint pain, headaches, dry skin, kidney and bladder health, improve memory and mood, help with constipation, aid in weight loss.
Sanitize your phone weekly
Oh if your phones could talk, no not you, Siri. We carry them everywhere yet always seem to forget to clean them.
Make your bed every morning
A simple way to start your day with productively. When your bed is made, your room just seems cleaner and it is less tempting to hop in for a cat nap!
Call someone, not text, once a week
Especially in the new social distanced world, it is more important than ever to make personal connections. Call your grandma that lives alone or your friend that text you yesterday and you forgot to text back... It will take a little more time than a text but mean so much more. Just one call a week.
Pray, Pray, Pray
Philippians 4:6 says "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Don't be anxious, pray. Want a real challenge in your prayer life? Pray for others instead of yourself. Pray without ceasing. When you are driving, when you are cooking, when you are getting ready. Prayer is not just for before meals and bedtime! Make some sort of prompt to remind you to pray when you see it: when your phone dings, pray a quick prayer before checking it, when you get into your car, ask God to bless a friend (or an enemy).
