Mother's Day Picture Frame Craft

This craft is the perfect gift for Mom this year.  Every mom loves a homemade gift.  Especially those that serve as a timestamp of tiny hands and feet, photos that show off the squishy rolls (baby's, not Mom's), and beginner's handwriting where they sign their name with some letters backward.

I am going to let you in on a little secret.  Moms usually are the ones taking the photos and therefore are not in as many.  Make a point to take a picture (or have someone take your picture if you are the mom) not just of the kids that make this crafty frame, but of the kids with Mom to put inside it!

Materials

  • Egg carton
  • Paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun
  • Thin cardboard for the frame (could also use wooden craft frame)
  • Favorite photo, again, it would be nice to include Mom, just saying...

Directions

1. Cut out each egg cup from the carton individually. Cut the cups into the shape of flowers by cutting zig-zagged and scalloped edges. You and your child can cut out as many or as few as you wish.

2. Using thin cardboard, cut out a large rectangle (the shape of your picture) several inches wider than your picture on all sides.

3. Trace your picture onto the cardboard and cut out the area around the tracing, making the cut-out slightly smaller than your picture. This should result in a rectangular frame with the middle cut out!

4. Paint your frame.

5. Once the paint is dry, glue your picture to the back of the frame.

6. Decorate your frame! Paint the flowers you made from the egg carton and glue them on. Your child can also write "MOM", add glitter, buttons, and other decorations to the frame.

7. Let the paint dry and then you're finished!
